Black Sand

Hello Everyone, this is my first official post.
I was wondering if anyone has or is using black sand in their seahorse tank? I am using it for a 9 gallon BC that houses pygmy seahorses and it looks great. The colors are enhanced on the horses nicely with the black sand.
Anyone have any photos of their seahorse tank with black sand?
My apologies if I placed this post in the wrong area.
Thanks much!!

Is this Black Sand Tropic Isle Tahitian Moon Sand? I really like the look of it and I'm going to definetly get it in my next tank. Can you post a pic of it in your's?

Welcome aboard

I haven't used black sand, however, it sounds like a great idea in a pony tank. I have a terrible time trying to locate all of my minis. After "row call" this evening I discovered 3 new babies. Love to see some pics of you tank

They black sand would be fine to use. I recommend getting some sand from an established tank (doesn't matter what color and a hand full is enough) and add this to it to increase the speed which your black sand becomes live.

I was thinking of using that same sand for an aggressive tank I hope to soon set up. I think it'd be cool for anything, it'd help bring out the color of fish and corals so it could even go in a reef.

I started off with 6 pair of ponies. Seventeen months later the "herd" is up to 41. Periodically I would trade pairs to change up the lineages.
Just curious what type of brine eggs you are using and if you have good hatch rates? Also, did someone mention that they gut pack the artemia? What did you use for that (Vibrance, celcon, cyclopeez, etc.)
