Slime algae is definately caused by bad water conditions but I dont think exclusively. My reef tank is 80g with enough filtration to handle 1000g including wet/dry, fluidised bed, living sand, skimmers, nitrate filtes and plenty of Caulerpa. Nitrite =0 Nitrate = 0 pH = 8.3. The tank is only 2 1/2 months old and doing great. The only problem is some black slime algae that has appeared on top of some green star polyps. I think Tatooed is right when he says nutrients! I think the light wavelength used is also important. Previously I have seen slime algae disapear after Caulerpas have taken hold for a while.
Check your lights, cut down feeding, ensure all the usual water conditions are good and continualy syphon it off using airline (I have to go and do my little bit now!). Good luck. Let me know if you solve the problem.
P.S. Stop the water changes, you are supplying the algae with all sorts of goodies for it (remove nitrates some other way if you have to)
