black slime

I'm new to the saltwater system and I have a concern about my tank. I have a black colored growth in my tank. When you try to clean it up what ever breaks off or you miss grows where it lands. It grows on whatever it lands on, not fish. Help

It is caused by high silicates and/or phosphates. Water changes with ro water will clear it up. Left-handed hermits will eat it (not on glass though) but most people stay away from them due to their aggressive nature.
