Black & White Clown w/ Brook.

I ordered a black and white off this site, arrived last Thursday and he's starting to look like he's got the beginnings of brook. My problem is it's Friday and I can't get formalin locally. I plan to order some tonight but is there anything I can do in the meantime to help him? The tank is a 10 gallon set up two and a half months ago, this is the only fish. I don't have a qt set up but will do that this weekend. I did a two gallon water change today in case it was water quality and will test the water tomorrow to see if anything is off.

Ok, please don't take this as rude, but first that clown will never be happy in a 10 gallon tank. There isn't much that you can keep comfortably in a ten gallon tank. Some inverts, and a fish that stays small would be all. Water changes are not going to do much, but the best water conditions you can give might help relieve some of the stress and help him hang on a little longer. Brook comes on and kills quick. The only treatment is formalin baths. Beth explains this in the disease thread at the top of this forum.

See if you can find another product locally that has formalin in it. Get it, and post back. You will only want to do bathes, not add to tank.

Ok, Formalin scheduled to be here today. Just do the recommend amount on disease thread? 20 drops per gallon for 45 minutes. I hope this saves his little butt.

Dip #1 down. I'll do another Friday and Sunday but he looks a little better already even before the dip so maybe he's throwing it off by himself too. Just curious, what else can formalin be used for? I have a lot now so I might give some to my local pet store.

Follow those directions exactly. Don't overdose. Be sure to aerate the bath water.

Yeah, he's dead. Came home from work and got informed he was dead.
Hopefully saltwaterfish will honor their guarentee.

For future reference, I would always follow the directions on the bottle. Some brands of formalin use a 37% solution whiles others are only a 3% solution.

The directions that I provide are specific to the 37% formalin, which I have pictured in the info-post.
Sorry for the bad news, petjunkie.
