I did get it locally in FL. They are quite nice indeed and I am hoping to add more to the setup if I can find them.

Here are some pics taken today of both lions (close-ups actually) and a blurry pic of my Mystery Wrasse.

Here are 2 new pics of new additions to the household/collection. Finally finished the 300 gallon tank (pardon the algae but the Turbo snails are lazy) and added its first inhabitant.

id love to get some lionfish like that, what stops me though is that they will eat anything that fits into their mouth, just hope they grow slower than your other fish

Indeed Lions can't be trusted with smaller tankmates but that's why they have a tank all to themselves. The only additions to that tank will be another Blackfoot when I can find it and a Radiata Lion. So it will be a Lion tank of sorts.

Have not kept him a super long time but 2 months more or less is still good enough for a fish that people say is tough to keep longer than a month. He eats well, tolerates high temps quite good and swims all over the tank. Can't imagine having problems with him unless I really screw something up (which is always possible).

Hi, where did you find youe blackfoot/bluefin lion?
This is an old thread. Blackfoots are kind of seasonal in that they tend to show up in the spring time. I'd bet money on him still having it because I don't know of anyone who has kept them for 2 years. They are one of the fish we haven't "unlocked" the secret to successfully keeping them yet.

Ivan,
I am doing a project for school on the blackfoot lionfish. Is there anything you know about the hawaiian lionfish and what is similar about the two lionfish? If you could help me with this i would be so grateful.
Thanks,
Jake

I have one Jake.
What were you looking for as far as a comparison to the hawaiian. I should clarify first if you are talking about the sphex or the barberi, both have the common name of "Hawaiian Lionfish. I also have the barberi.
