One of my live rocks is white now any idea what might have caused it?
Hi, welcome to the site,
A really good CUC (clean up crew) will clear a rock of all algae in a new tank because they are hungry and there isn't enough algae, so they completely striped it, lack of light will cause all algae to disappear. if the rock has been on the bottom of other rocks and not exposed to the light, you will get the same thing.
Either way, no algae is not a problem, it's the other way around. As time progresses, the coralline algae (usually purples and blues) will cover the rock and give it personality. Algae is not what makes a rock...LIVE...it's the tiny critters that live in it, as to why it's called a live rock.
