they require a good amount of algae and can starve in smaller aquariums if enough isn't provided. mine used to eat nori sheets but he wasn't very good at tearing bits off. Also, what fish do you have currently? they're not aggressive fish and can often be bullied into long periods of hiding if housed with more boisterous fish.

LMB's are GREAT fish to have!! Like was said already, they are algae eaters so make sure that you have plenty of rock for them to graze from. Adding seaweed sheets helps as well. Mine will eat from the sheets, but I guess some dont.
These little guys have more personality than just about any other fish I've seen. Definitely the "class clown" of my tank

mine eats everything. i though they were herbivores, but mine also eats mysis and other meaty foods.
there pretty cool little fish, not aggressive. they pretty much spend the whole day grazing.

they're cheaper online because the price isn't bumped up from shipping costs yet.
whereas at your LFS they're more expensive because they pay to have them shipped, so you get mark up prices. :)

my LMB doesnt dig under rocks. he does utilize the burrows my pistol shrimp dug, but he doesnt dig his own holes.
my LMB eats algae off the glass and the rocks. not off the sand bed though.

I can say that my lmb is very animated and always front and center. He hasn't touched any of the nori, or food for the other fish. When I got him, he was a little thin, but now seems to be putting on weight. He eats mainly off the back wall, I have OCD..and clean the three walls. But, if I don't, I see lips on the front glass where he has been. He is extremely animated, when the camera comes out, so does he. I worried about him not eating anything else, but he still poos green poo, so I guess he is getting enough to eat. :joy: Never in my life did I think I would be excited to see green poo!!!
But, he is doing great in my reef and causing no harm.
