Can anyone tell me if my fish should look like this, first off he is doing good just got him yesterday drip acclimated him for 3 1/2 hrs from the start he started picking at algae and eating seaweed but he looks a little beat up some white blotches ( Not White spots like ich) is this normal for a new fish to an aquarium, he's about 3 in long and I have a 125 gallon fish only tank all parameters are 0 in the tank thanks

Discoloring is sign of stress, usually goes away. What is tank mates? When you say beat up are there physical signs, like ripped fins? I assume he was fine looking in the LFS?

I wouldn't worry just keep the nori coming add also a frozen vegetable blend food. I have found spectrum marine pellets a good easy food and makes there colors come out.

I would've put him in the hospital tank from the start.
Do you know how long he was at the LFS before you purchased him?
8.3 pH is absolutely fine, so that's not the issue?
My blonde Naso took a few days to adjust, even after eating as soon as I put it in the tank. I'm not a fan of purchasing tangs under 4", they seem to have much more issues with shipping and acclimation and that may be your issue. Turn down the flow in you QT tank, and lower the salinity slightly. Leave lights off and offer algae strips.
Good luck!

I run a bio wheel for my QT tank so flow isn't an issue salinity is at 019 he's still on his side at the bottom thanks for the help

Sorry to hear that, that is the reason I'm not a big fan of buying fish on line. I want to see and watch them swim and eat B4 I buy them.

I have bought many a fish at the LFS and some of them I have lost so I really don't think that's the issue, this one was doing good eating and swimming good all my other fish I bought online are still doing great I seem to think its a biological problem.

Yes I believe you are correct, some just cant adapt to captivity. At this time I would also like to point out that a Naso grows to large for 125gal tank. I think they one of the nicer looking tangs with coloring and streamers, but I didn't want to chance one in my 135, min. tank size would be 180. Plenty of other tangs will do great in your tank.

someone else said they don't like when they get ones that are small like 4 in and they don't do well I guess that was the case maybe i'll spend more money and get a large one next time

I says that. They don't do nearly as well, especially when shipped.
