Blood Worms

I think I have been bamboozled. The LFS sold me blood worms, as well as granules, to feed my two clowns. I didn't even think to question them. They said to giove a whole cube once a day and the granules at night. We stopped at a fish store when we were out of town just to check out the fish they had in stock and I asked what to feed a clean up crew? The same blood worms as the clowns? They were surprised we were given blood worms, said they were fresh water fish, suggested I feed them frozen brine shrimp and cut the cube in half. EGADS do you always get conflicting info? What is right?

It doesnt matter that they are freshwater or not. A lot of freshwater fish food can be fed to saltwater fish and the same for saltwater food for freshwater fish. Whatever your clowns eat is gonna be good food. Just do not always feed them the blood worms - the best way to feed fish is with a variety of food. My personal favorite foods for clowns are cyclop-eeze whole freeze dried and frozen mysis shrimp and every so often some algae flakes or algae sheets.

Watch your freshwater foods and saltwater foods. Freshwater foods will usually have Phosphates in them.. Saltwater foods will not. Check the ingredients on the back.

i feed my red eared slider turtle live blood worms, he LOVES it and so do the other fish. I've tried live blood worm for my sw tank .. just a little bit and it was clean as can be, they just loved it .. they're easy to keep alive .. but disgusting, I put them in a bowl with cold water and put them in the refridgerator .. I've also heard, bloodworms are very good for any fishes diet. Hope this helps
