I have recently bought a banded shark and he seames to have red marks on his stomach and underside. He has plenty of open sand to swim in. Can anyone give any insight?
p.s. every so often he flips when he swims. is this normal?
Thanks for any input!
well the small sharks normally get scratches on there stomach becuase they are real soft, then the cut gets infected, that is why you shouldnt have crushed coral with sharks or rays

Sand and bottom dwelling sharks can get scratched easily like dlight692000 said. Another thing that causes them to have red bloches on their belly is chemical burns and high nitrate levels. Just remember to always have clean hands before sticking them into your tank.

Thank's for the input guys.....But i have no crushed coral all sugar fine sand......and all the Live rock is at one end of the tank. And i always use tank tongs. and with my protien skimmer and oversized wetdry all my levels are at optimal. I will check the nitrates again just to make sure.......thanks
