Blu-Ray Wins!!!

Well, you realize that now the PS3 will be in higher demand since it'll be the least expensive Blu-Ray player out there, so the price will go down. I'm banking that this, with the newer, lesser expensive parts they're using in it, will bring the PS3 down below $200 as a regular price by this summer.

I'm just glad that I waited this one out. We knew that it was going to be a war similar to the VHSBeta debacle back in the 80s...

Same here. Early on I figured HD-DVD would win, and was really close to buying a player, but I'm glad I waited.

I am still in the ranks of those who believe that, thanks to things like Apple's little "if it's on iTunes, it's on TV" device (and several others), DVD is the last major solid-state media format.

I definitely wouldn't use the term "win" in describing high def. DVD's. Some along the lines of "lost less" lol

I had my bets on HD-DVD as well.

I bet on HD-DVD also and bought one, but I got it for dirt cheap and 10 free movies to go with it. If nothing else, it is an awesome upconverting player for standard DVD. I will probably pick up the other HD-DVDs that I want when they go on close out.

I think their main problems were the movie maker they had didn't make alot of movies and have been delt alot of blows from dvd rentail stores and other stores that sell them.I got both of them so it no big deal to me either way.I think that their will be alot of PO people that bought them if they don't keep making movie for the 300,000 + dvd player sold if you ask me or they should have to reimburse you if you ask me but I know that is a pipe dream..DVD makers should make disks with both hd brands on a disk like they do with hd dvd and standard ones.

Once I learned that the Bluray players will play standard DVD I liked that. I found an open box Sony player for a little over a hundred, so it was not a real expensive gamble on my part. Now the prices of the movies have to come down.

I thought this was ineresting in the article. Toshiba Corp. said shipments of HD DVD machines to retailers will be reduced and will stop by end of March Shouldn't they stop selling them now? But I guess if they sell them to people for about a C note and tell people that they are basically upgrade DVD players now that would be ethical. Hey that is a good on, a big company being ethical
