Has anyone had experience with one? Are they as hard to keep as people say? If so what can I do to help my success of getting one? what did you feed it?

i believe you are referring to the Paracanthurus hepatus. People on this board refer to it as the blue hippo tang. you will also hear of it called the regal tang or just blue tang. try finding info using these names

what other fish do you have?????
hippo should be the only tang in your aquarium.
they are very cool, but have coral (live or dead) for them to hide in. if you have damselfish or other SOB's they may stress or kill it.
also try and get bigger one. 2"+
good luck

I owned one, I ran a UV sterlizer because The regals get ich very easy and if you dont get one 2"+ you will have a very hard time try and get one 4-5" or if you feel like taking the rish you can try a smaller one

I haven't gotten a hippo yet, I'm trying to find one where I live. Right now the fish stores aren't able to get them. But I don't have other tangs in my tank. What type of live rock would you suggest. Do you know where I can find a 2"+ tang at. In Illinois I haven't seen one any bigger than that. How much would a 2"+ cost?
