Blue Hippo Dying?

I recieved a blue hippo last week from this site, last night i notice the hippo was laying on its side in the live rock. I know the lie on their side and play dead. it was still there this morning I thought it was dead when I was trying to take it out it started moving again but it went right back to the same place in the live rock. Is the fish dying or just playing dead?
thanks

I believe they wedge themselves into the rock so they won't drift while they nap :) Mine did it and the ones I watch in the store do it too. I'd say he's fine. HTH

My Yellow tang does that. He goes below my LR and lays there when "sleeping" or scared (50% of the time). It is normal.
Plus give him sometime since you just got him. It took mine weeks to swim around when I was sitting in front of the tank...

CC, I have a 4" hippo who somehow manages to slip in a 1/2" wide crack sideways!
Just keep an eye on him and you should see him out and about after his little nap. If he hasn't moved much for a full dayor so, then you might want to become concerned.

Yup...sometimes mine stays in his little crack for awhile. It's a characteristic of hippo's (among others). You should be fine, as long as his color is full, no fin rot, and no visible scars/eye/appetite problems.

As long as it's not lying on the open sand bed, it's fine. It's possible that hippo might not come out of rocks at all especially during the acclimation period. Or try to look for him to make sure he's ok.

And "just for grins" do some tests and throw some numbers out on the board here....
Maybe something "is" bothering him...
