Blue Hippo Tang Sucked Against Intake Strainer

My blue hippo tang was stuck against my intake strainer which is a 2" inlet to a reeflo pump. Now I know he is a strong swimmer, so I almost think he was just "hanging" out there. I have had him in this tank for 5 years and I can only imagine it has done this many times before, but I was worried. When I saw it there it was just looking around opening its mouth, but it was definitely against it. So I immediately unplugged the closed loop pump and off he came. Swimming around just fine. I guess I should have put some food in or something to see if he could just pull right away from it.
What do you all think?

If nothing else seems out of the ordinary, he probably just wanted to chill there. Some fish are just weird like that.
If you see this happen again, try feeding and see if he comes off willingly.

You may consider "teeing" the intake and adding a second strainer, to reduce the suction force.
