Blue jaw trigger

I just bought a blue jaw trigger on friday night and am curious on there behavior. I havent found any info on this particular trigger. Ive been trying to feed silversides and Azoo freeze dried krill he nibbles at both but barely eats anything. he also is very shy staying to one little area. Hes in a 55 gal with a 2inch the niger, the blue jaw is 4in and the niger doesnt bother him. Any info on these fish will be appreciated.
P.S I know the size of the tank needs to be upgraded but there both small right now and i plan on getting a bigger tank as they grow.

i dont understand how you havent found any information their is plenty of information written about them
but seing that you havnt found any they tend to be very shy at first
getting bolder as time goes
they are considered the nicest (in behavior)
try other foods like squid scallops krill silversides sandeels
and if worst comes to worst ive never seen a trigger refuse to eat ghost shrimp

I just came home from work and noticed my blue jaws fins look like they have kind of white blotches. he also is not eating like a trigger i had my water tested at the petstore before i bought him and they said everything was good but he just doesnt seem right he just picks at the food and stays in one side of the tank. Im wondering if maybe hes getting sick because he doesnt like what hes being fed frozen silversides flakes and azoo freeze dried krill the krill kinda sucks.Or if the niger is messing with him ive havent seen anykind of agression and the niger is much smaller any ideas on how to fix this before he becomes very sick and dies.

I got one 3 weeks ago and was slightly beat up....got him eating clam, shrimp, small pieces of squid, and a mix of many items(squid, clam, scallops, shrimp) chopped together. I soak it in garlic xtreme or natural garlic juice along with vitachem.

Check your water quality first also how was he acclimated ?most likely brought on by stress of the whole change situation ,the niger,or tank size.The lfs how long did they have him?if the spots are large not ick size good water quality alone will cure that up also what kind of filtration do you have?be carefull of that uneaten food.My bluethroat loves mysis shrimp,shrimp,and seaweed on a clip.I have a niger as well my bluethroat is about 7 inches niger is about 4 the bluetroat is an adult male the niger is about 6 monts old.There both in a 150 with some others. a suggestion dim your lights and stand back and watch for a while nigers sometime are jeckyl and hides.Make sure he is not stressing him out and get a bigger tank fast that tanks to small for the niger by himself.

Blue throat, Blue jaw, Blue cheek, are all deiffernt names for the same fish.
In that size of a tank the Niger might start a fight with the blue jaw.

My Blue Jaw LOVES Marine Cuisine - also chopped squid and always Mysis and Brine. He even eats pellet and flake food now.
Sometimes the marks can be from hiding in the substrate - they tend to mark themselves up - but it sounds like ich. Once it settles in - that to will pass as long as the water quality is good.
Blue Jaws (and other triggers) tend to have dog like characteristics. They hide - nap - come greet you when you get home - and run around to help digest thier food. Most triggers can be hand fed squid strips - I do this only when company is present. Give it a good home and it will respond.
