I caught this just a minute ago so I snapped a few pictures for you guys. I thought it was pretty interesting. The funny thing is, this crab had gone back and forth between these two shells about three times. Make up your mind already!

Thanks, I have never seen this happen, but I am sure it is very common when you have a lot of these crabs. I only have two right now, so I thought it was cool.

This one spends most of the day climbing up on my middle rock and rolling off the side. Sort of a cliff diving thing
. That reminds me, earlier, my Purple Pseudo swam by him while he was up there, gave him a funny look and then picked him up in its mouth! After swimming around for a few seconds with the hermit crab, she spit him out about a foot away. It was a sight to see :hilarious :hilarious

Those are really great. I can't wait to give my hermits bigger shells to swap into. How'd you get such good focus with those pictures? Everytime I try to get a picture of my hermits, it comes out kind of blurry. Any tips?

No problem, I thought this was a semi-rare occurance, so I took advantage of it and snapped a few shots.

Very Nice. So what shell did he end up taking? lol. did you zoom in with the camera or just leave it and take pictures? Also, if you don't mind me asking, how much was it? i think they are $250?

Oh, and did you use a tripod? and did you photoshop it? did you manualy focus or auto focus? Sorry for all the questions, but you can't argue with pictures like those! lol

To answer the first questions, he ended up in the white shell and the Camera came in a package for around $285.00 with some extras. It was bought a couple years ago though, I am sure the price has dropped a little.
For these questions:
- No tripod, I rested the camera on the top of the flip top door. (Luckily, the crab was about 2" from the glass in the front of the tank!)
- Don't have Photoshop, I use Picasa by Google to do minor contrast and color stuff. These, however, are raw pictures. untouched.
- This is an auto focus setting called "Digital Macro" that is perfect for taking up close shots that are 6" or less from the camera lense.
Thanks to all who posted comments. I am trying to get a small video or sequence of my Purple Pseudo hauling out mouthfulls of sand from his hole.

I love those little guys they are so funny. I have 3 and they are always trying on new shells and/or trying to steal eachothers! Its funny to because the largest one tries to take the smaller hermie's shell! They are so funny!
