blue linckia help!

I put a blue linckia in my tank, and now I think it was not such a good idea. My tank is too new and I've read they are hard to keep. Yesterday I noticed a long stringy mass coming in/out of him. Is this some sort of waste or something he is eating or does it indicate he is falling apart? He is still moving around the tank and appears normal otherwise. Has anyone seen something like this before?

Can you tell us more about when you got it, how it was acclimated, where the strings are coming from? Any chance for a picture?
IMO, your specific gravity is a touch low for these guys.
