Well yesterday when i was picking up some more rock for the 20L....the lfs i was at had in thir possesion a blue reef lobster. They lady said it was reef safe and wouldnt eat fish! Is she mistaken? I did not purchase it becasuse my 75gal is not up and running yet and i dont think it would have been very happy in my 20! My 36gal is fully stocked and iam not adding anything to it either! Its about 3in or mybe 2in id say. Its tail was curled up so it was hard to tell....they had it in one of those holding plastic baby tanks. Prob cuz they didnt wanna grab it bear hand when it sold! Idk just looking for input! I want a lobster bad but am not willing to do a species only tank for one! Is it possible to keep in my reef? Btw i dont think it was a spiny blue reeef lobster but i could be mistake as i dont know a lot about the diff species!

I have yet to own a reef lobster that was "reef safe". They won't bother corals, but can bother fish and shrimp. I even had one shred up my mandarin's fins on me before I caught it.
They're beautiful, but IMO, just not worth the risk. Some behave, but they have the potential to eat just about anything they can grab, especially a small bottom dwelling fish, or shrimp.

Hmmm, only 3 species of 'reef' lobster generally are ever imported, the Debelius (the purple and orange one), the Hawaiian Red, and the Spiny Blue. Spiny Blue's really aren't that spiny, named more so for just the 2 horns they have on top of their heads....
However importers do list a couple other species... though they generally are the typical brown, rather unattractive types of lobster... If you go back, snap a pic! Would definitely be interesting to see!
