Blue Ribbon Eel

Warning:
Because most ribbon eels do not live longer than a month in captivity, some feel that this species should never be purchased. Ribbon eels have been observed in nearly every case to stop eating after being captured. Although there are reports of ribbon eels surviving and eating in captivity for 2 years or more. But most don't survive over a month.
After a huge struggle in getting him to eat, I've had him for 9 months now. I will write a summary/report about him in a reef section for all interested as soon as he reaches a year(3 months to go).
Here is some pics of my Blue Ribbon Eel. Enjoy!

It's only 24g... They don't need a lot of space. I had him in a 90g before I moved him and he wasn't active at all.

BAD NEWS guys

I think it was my worst day in this hobby. He jumped about a month ago... I had a very tiny whole in the back of my tank and he went for it. I was so upset at myself that I never covered it!
A month later...
I decided to try another Eel, this time a white ribbon eel (ghost eel). The first thing I did was covered everything in my tank, and not even a fly can get through now. I will start a new thread about this guy (hopefully today), so for all of you intrested I will post some pics and videos.

Hey Member 007
I got a black ribbon eel last night and he looks awesome. I was wondering as you mentioned it was difficult to start feeding if I should immediately tried frozen as it is hard to wean them on to frozen from live? Can I use Intice or some garlic juice to also initiate feeding?
I used the tongs and he came up but attacked the plastic than the frozen krill itself.
i really dont want to start feeding live until I know I have to, so any suggestions would be helpful.
