Thanks for the info lionsohmy, but can someone give me a little more specific information other than they need a big tank or they need to stay in the ocean?

I was actually reading a book the other that had like 500 marine animals and how easy they are to keep and so forth. From what I remember reading about them is that are very picky eaters and one almost always has a problem feeding them and getting them to take food. HTH... I still do agree with something I said in another post though and that is there are only a few marine animals that I think need to stay in the ocean and this happens to be one. If you get one though let us know how it does.

The blue spotted rays are pretty hardy, not hardy like triggers though, just hardy. Make sure when you purchase the ray, it isn't the ribbon tail bluespotted ray, because those have horrible survival rates. They need a minimum of a 240 gallon in my opinion. They eat all frozen foods, but it may be a trouble at first getting it to eat, try ghost shrimp. Any more info needed just ask.

Sharker, do you know which one SWF carries? Are they seasonal or do you think they are just sold out? What is the difference in the ribbon tale? I did not that there was two different ones.

Yes what is the difference between them???? I just recently got one... I have no trouble feeding it at all, and Ive fed it frozen foods too.... My LFS had it in a 75gal and they had it for 3 weeks they said and also said it would be fine in my 72gal, which I moved the live rock to the side for.... So he has about 3 or more in length to move accross... And the ray seems happy in his home... So, what are the survival rates then? How soon do they go????
I guess my bad for not researching more, (which I couldnt find much about them), just went with my LFS owner lady's info.... So, Please if anyone knows anything else I should let me know soon so I can make sure this guy will continue to be ok!

The difference between them is that the blue spotted ribbon tail ray has a flattened tail(like a ribbon) and the regular blue spotted ray(also called the "masked stingray") has a patch of black over its eyes. The survival rate on the ribbon tail is about 1 in 10 and like sharker said the blue spotted(masked) ray is much hardier.

Alright I have the ribbon one then I guess... That sucks.... So, how long do they usually live??? Mines doing good right now, swims everywhere and stuff... So, why dont they survive??? They starve themselves??? What??? And when may it "go"??? :( <img src="graemlins//confused.gif" border="0" alt="[confused]" />

They usually die because they just don't accept food or stop eating. And sometimes they die for no reason. But if yours is eating then it'll probably stay alive for a while.
