Board suggestions

I have been on this site for quite some time now . . . well over two years and I have seen some pretty big improvements in that time. I have also seen quite a few bad changes as well . . . yet, all in all I think that this place is . . . . just OK.
I think that there are a few things that could use some improving around here, and its purely based on functionality of the site. I think that the Mods here are fine . . . despite what others seem to think, this BB is pretty well moderated. (for the most part).
A couple things that I would like to see are:
1. An Archive forum! This seems to me so obvious yet i have never seen it. there are so many excellent reference posts in here that get lost in the shuffle that they are hard to find. Only mods would be able to post to this forum . . . no new posts, just moved threads.
2. A FAQ page! This spawns off the archive forum. It used to exist . . . I know it did . . . I read it! Its how I found this site.
3. Trading . . . seriously . . . . I know that this has been argued in the past . . . but simply make a new policy in the user agreement that is agreed upon when registering that the host is not responsible for any trades made between users . . . if that really is the issue here. The sale of used hardware is still allowed . . . why not trade corals?
4. Improve the search function (this stems off the archive page). There are the same questions asked over and over again through out this BB, just wasting space on the server. Why not get rid of some of them by creating a FAQ, and Archive, as well as improving the search function. It could be made more obvious, or prominent on the main page, something.
Just a few thoughts on how to improve this place . . . not that its bad to begin with, but I think that there are always improvements to be made with everything.
mods feel free to email me if need be as I don't really want a discussion here. I'd like to lock this but I don't know how.

Those are great ideas, 007. I've always thought the reason there was no trading was because they think it competes with sales from their site. However, I think that attracts business from here.
The #1 thing I think they need to do is bring back Waterfaller!
I know someone is going to get really ticked at me for saying that, but I just can't beleive she got booted...she was a huge part of this BB.

great ideas 007...although you still have to agree to help me with my HUGE cheffelera when needed. I haven't killed it yet.
Also when fish are offered for sale it would be nice if a tank size suggestion is offered.
Carole is MISSED, she went to another BB.

This is a milestone for me, usually I kill things before now.

We actually did have an Archieve Forum early on in the site, but it was discontinued due to lack of use. I agree, a lot of good info is lost in the maze of threads. Perhaps since the site is much larger now, the Arhieve can be a consideration.
007, you got your wish on the Trading Forum....Have fun. The reason that SWF.com has not opened the doors to such a forum is not really because of competition fears. It is more a philosophical decision to not have the SWF.com community become a place where vendors are everywhere trying to drum up business. There are plenty of other forums that do that and we don't need to duplicate what is easily accessed elsewhere. This place is a "safe" zone away from all that. We do have a trade forum now for frags in addition to the continuation of the Trading Forum [now Classifieds], and that's great.
007, the best bet for making suggestions is to contact the store owners. While mods have some say on what forums and materials go up, its really up to the owners to decide what forums appear at SWF.com.
