i have a ten gallon nano that has been setup fpr 10years. never had any problems before. the pc bulbs i was using needed replaced and aren't sold anymore. well i went with corallifes pc's. one is full daylight and the other is blue with a purple bulb. now for the past two months i have had a hell of a time trying to get rid of alage. light brown and green. never had it before till these bulbs.. i put the timer to 8hrs a day and in acouple hrs the alage comes right back. water changes don't make a difference.. what do i do?

If you're sure it's your lights then it is just a spectrum issue. Do you know what the k value was on your old lights and on the new ones? You might just need to get a different K value bulb. Sounds like the one you have would be good over a refugium!

it could also just be that your tank is getting used to the right color lights. If your other lights were really old they had probably shifted out of the apropriate color. Now that you have the new lights your tank is going to take a while to adjust. That is why you hear about people burning their lights in slowly. If you just go straight into a full 12 hours of light this will happen. I would cut back to like 4-6 hours depending on the bioload and increase by half hour increments over time.
