get some shrimps from the seafood section or if they will give you a little piece of squid so he can try it to see if he likes it

i don't see why not it doesn't take anything away from the shrimp i am pretty sure he will eat those if you put them in there

Moto 757, cooking the food first takes away a lot of the nutrients and vitamins naturally found in it. So does freezing. Always try to feed fresh seafood if possible. I go to the store 3 times a week to buy 2 scallops, 2 shrimp and one squid. I get some strange looks at the counter but its worth the reward in growth rates and overall health. If fresh is not possible, try to use supplements such as Zoecon or Selcon. I prefer the first.

OMG!!! I thought I just killed my Eel. I hope he's okay. Me being an ass, I cut the shrimp up in to like 4 pieces. I thought that he could handle the piece that I cut. So I put it on a squire. I put it in the tank and when he approached it I was like .... Maybe that piece is a little big for him ... so I went to pull it out............... but TO LATE! He ripped it off the squire and took it under. He couldn't fit it all the way in his mouth so I was like well I'll just have the net ready and as soon as he drops it I'll scoop it up. Well, he managed to get it down in his throat but it got stuck!!! I could see him like gasping. He just kept opening up his mouth. I was scare he was choking on it... I tried to catch him but I couldn't. So I just had to watch. He did finally get it down further and I could see that he wasn't gasping anymore. But right down past his throat it looks like he has a big bulge there. I hope he'll be okay.

he wasn't gasping, he was taking water in his mouth to soften the food. My eel does this all the time, after eating, he will flair his mouth open repeatedly and take in water, after a bit, the small bulge of food slides down and disappears.
it's not him about to die, it's fairly common with some eels. Mine has done this a lot, and i see a bulge in his body as wel after feeding sometimes, and he's been alive for almost 3 years.

I'd get regular uncooked cocktail shrimp. Scallops and squid may be appreciated also.
