Bowfront Canopy

You should be able to get one from a LFS that carries Oceanic tanks, etc. If yours is an All-glass I could give you dimensions of my Oceanic 72 gallon bowfront canopy just to be sure they are the same. You can check my link below to see what it looks like. If I remember right it cost me about $125.00.

Are those Oceanic bowfront canopies made of formica or similiar? They aren't wood, are they?
I had my bowfront AGA made by someone who does aquarium furniture. Very pleased. All wood, made to order. He's actually a member of this BB.

Sorry to intrude on your post, but I am also in the market for a canopy on a 46 gal. bow front by AGA. Any suggestions plastic or wood both fine by me. Thanks!!! :D

The canopies you are talking about are plastic. If you use any lighting more than NO floresents you could have some trouble with warping them or even worse melting them. You can not hang anything from them either. There are not many places that do the canopy you are looking for but one is www.aquarium-stands.com
Hope this helps you out some.

Actually Glenn, thats not the case. Ive got 2 spider reflectors with 175 watt metal halides mounted in it. There is one single clip on desk fan blowing across them both. I can touch the reflectors on the back side and its not that warm, let alone the canopy. Its not warmed up at all. Im also in the process of adding a third 175 watt halide. With a little DIY its pretty simple to mount them up.

Sorry for stating the wrong thing then because i was told by others that it does happen. You have MH's hung from it? Arent they awfull close to the water then? Those canopies I have seen are only about 8" tall.

The bottom of the bulbs are about 5 1/2" to 6" from the waters surface. Ive had them over the tank for 2 months now and the only ill effect is evaporation. But there is also a fan over the tank and the sump that also contributes to that as well. Im losing around 1 1/2 gallons a day and replace 75% of that with Kalk water and the other 25% with just RO/DI water. I know its a little closer than the consensus on the board recommends, but I have had no problems with water getting to the bulbs to this point.

Ok as long as it works for you. I would still prefer wood though.

Nothing like good wood. I looked at those when I was looking for a new tank but figured in a yer or two the plastic lids on top would just be all warped.
Glad it works for you.
