How do you tell them apart??
I have only one right now and would love to get them a mate

wut kinds of fish? for clown fish i think it is usually the female is 2x the size of the male... for other fish it is bigger dorsal fin is the male

Bangaii cardinal males would have a longer dorsal fin. And mandarin males have a single extended dorsal spine.

But how do I tell on a Maroon Clown.

From what I've read, if you are going to introduce a second clown, you want to get a smaller one than the one you already have. If your current fish isn't already a female it will become a female when it establishes its dominance over the smaller one.
