i put a brain coral in my tank 3 days ago and it has not open yet. is this normal? or am i not patient? how would i know if it dead

Hi,
It is normal for corals to take a few days to get acclimated to the new tank. What are your water parameters and lighting.. Open brains are very hardy and can adjust very well. You can look at the exoskeleton and look for tissue decay or receding tissue. This is a sign that he is not well. If you have good water and atleast decent lighting then I wouldn't worry too much.
