i have a nice green open brain and some of the skeleton is exposed and algae has grown on it. should i scrape the algae off and see if it grows back?

I had a brain like that. A small bit of its skeleton started showing and it was all downhill from there. I'd try to take it out of a lot of flow if it's in a high/moderate flow location and just kinda monitor it. Scraping off the algae might stress it out more and cause it to die quicker.

dont scrape off the algae. put it in a low flow area on the sandbed. feeding it might help. fromur other post, ur t5 bulbs r 2 years old? it could also be the bulbs causing ur corals to deteriorate. i change my t5 every 12-14 months.
