Ok after lurking forever and learning, I am the proud co-owner of a salt water system, but now I wanna give a little back to the envirnoment and I am starting a Coral fraggin system in my basement to ease the burden on the reefs
We have the coral, but my maine question is about using 55 gallon plastic drums for growing tables, droping the plastic eggcrating into them and then doing all my plumbing and such? is it possible.
Also looking for all help about the propagation and care of various coral at once

its definatly possible. though you'll have a LOT of water volume for little grow space. caring for frags isnt any different than caring for the corals themselves. generally you shoudl maintain as high a water quality as possible to reduce the chances of secondary infections. as well as to optimize growth.
here is a link to a search I did for just my own fragging threads, there is a ton of information on them, and there are many other great fragging threads by other SWF.com memebers
https://forums.saltwaterfish.com/newsearch/?search=&type=all
the best would be the seventh selection on there it contains links to every fragging thread mine and others, that I could find at the time.

I have that bookmarked haha, I gotta ask you wouldnt happen to run a fish shop in auburn maine would you? I am also from maine and it would be rather funny
honestly I love coral under the right lighting, when the neon colors really show...but problem is its killing the reefs of the world and if I can help just one person get that rare and exotic feel in their fishtank withoutt destroying a reef, its worth all the money I dont currently have for this project lol

not as of yet, but I just have gotten to the point in my life where I can have a show tank of my own and this is my friends 3rd tank so I have been thinking about it. my lfs is amazing to us which really helps out alot.
major question to coral farmers, if I am running lets say 6 tables(out of my 55 gallon drums) do I need a sump and/or refugium for each or can I do a master set up?

I personaly would, would just plumb one sump, and make a bypass setup so I could take one tank out of the loop if it was having problems
