Brass Fittings!

Is it safe to use brass fittings like valves to shut off my overflow drain lines, etc? I usually use PVC, but adjusting valves for certain flow rates is easier with a gate valve, and those only come in brass. I'm not sure if the saltwater will mess with brass or not.

Brass fittings are not safe for reef tanks. Saltwater will wreak havoc on the brass, and because it's a copper alloy, your water will eventually become polluted with copper and kill off your inverts.
Schedule 40 & 80 PVC gate valves are available. Do a Google search for "PVC gate valve", and I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for.
