Looking for any info on this awesome looking eel. I have a 220gal FOWLR and am thinking of adding one to my stock.

i have never owned one but when i worked at NJ pets we had one and we had to keep it alone. After it ate a toby puffer and bit a pbt and bird wrasse we knew he would have to be alone. I would only keep one with larger fish, what ever fits in its mouth is history, and if it it cant it might just get a bite (you could see the bite marks clearly on the pbt and bird wrasse)

i agree with rara12, mine has eaten a live 7" shrimp and a 6" finger mullet and hes only 24" or so. When they get to 32", they could probably take down some good sized fish. But they are cool, one of the coolest pets ive ever had

How often and what do you feed it? The smaalest fish in my tank is a Huma Trigger about 3" long everything else is 6-7" or bigger.

i have all very large monster tangs in my tank,, EXCEPT i do hae a little 2-3 inch racoon buttefrly and my eel never bothered him once or never evan tried to
hey blizz.. i can imagine my eels would eat live shrimp but i cant ever imagine them going after a larger fish and mine is about 28-30 inches and thicker than a bat and doesnt seem to have any interest in anyone as a meal

i would think that you would be fine but watch how ur zebra acts for a while before you put anything else in.

watch how he interacts with your other tankmates, if he is too docile the brazilian may bully him, just make sure he is aggressive at feeding time,....

It is, but i have not tried to keep it with any large, truely aggressive fish, your tangs are huge and im assuming pretty aggressive? I plan on upgrading this summer and when i do i want to try to put a few fish in with him like groupers and triggers. See how he acts with BIG fish :happyfish

I have had mine for a few months..He is in a 125gal with a lionfish pinktail trigger yellow tang and a dogface puffer. He is pretty calm until he gets hungry or when i put food in the tank. He picks on the puffer sometimes and will grab a piece of some of the fish when he is in a feeding frenzy but immediatly lets them go when he realizes they arent food. Here is mine
