Well they traded Chauncey Billups and Antonio McDyess for Allan Iverson. Joe Dumars promised that no players were untouchable. What do you think of this trade???
I THINK that I like it. Obviously losing two veteran fixtures here is going to hurt, but we now increase our offensive puch. I love that Iverson takes the ball hard to the basket and doesn't just settle for jump shots. This is going to be very interesting.
Does this bump Detroit above Boston in the east...
Can't wait to see that playoff series.

I think he's got at least 2 to 3 good years left in him... I hope.
I wish we would have gotten another player, like a Camby, thrown in for the deal.

Dang I ddint see that coming. That makes the Nuggest much better now in the West with a real point guard and a big man that can play still

I am not trying to argue that this happened or not, but I am not seeing this news anywhere here in Colorado.
Where did you get the info?

I think Nuggest got the better end of the deal. This could change the East big time... This takes Pistons from 2nd best tam in the east to just a reg east team IMO...

Breaking news in Detroit on the radio.
They are now saying that McDyess is not going to actually play for Denver... that he was included to make the salaries work but he will be released immediately and resign with Detroit... or something like that. If that happens then this is essentially Billups for Iverson and I would LOVE that deal!!!

DOOOOOD,, are you serious???? HA HA HA best DOWN TRADE of the year so far. Iverson 33 is on a down swing, thinks he is an elitist, he is a ball hog and thats why Denver was happy to get rid of him, To try to up MELOS numbers.
Billups though has a bad habit of disappearing in the playoffs WAS the captain of that ship, he ran that ship, He WAS the big shot guy... NOW WHAT?
McDyess WAS the only guy I respected on that team.. NOBODY on that team had MORE HEART... NO GONE!???????
AND YOU STILL HAVE TEAM BUSTER SHEED??? What the frick is Wrong with JOE lately?? First bringing in FLIP, THEN the DARKO over MELO, WADE and BOSH fiasco and NOW THIS? DUMAS has to go right up there with ISIAH as WORST GM of the Decade! ha ha ha Sorry Crimzy bad bad move!

Not really sure if this is an improvement Crimzy...Iverson is well past his prime, and Chancey is a better leader than A.I. I don't know how deep Detroit is at Power Forward, but McDyess is solid and hard to replace. The Answer is capable of playing great D, and fitting in, still not sure this is an upgrade.
Detroit sees themselves as level below Boston, so I applaud them for going out and trying to make something happen....Hope it works, I can't stand Paul Pearce.

Oh man, all those lottery draft picks must have gone to your head. True that Joe struggles in the draft... you don't even have to stop at Darko, see Rodney White, Mateen Cleaves, etc. However since taking over he has kept this team at the top of the league every year. He signs free agents and generally makes good trades.
Our starting 5 was one of the best in the league... now we have upgraded the point guard position (for right now anyway). McDyess was a big loss (if we actually lose him, see above), but this year he is coming off the bench and the Pistons have made a more concerted effort to developing their young guys. This has reduced his minutes anyway.
I think that for this year, this makes the Pistons a better team. Don't forget that Iverson is playing for a contract. What happens after this year is another issue altogether?

BTW, Chauncey is a decent leader but is a defensive liability. He can't defend quicker guards. But for Denver I think this is more addition by subtraction, just to get rid of an unhappy, soon-to-be free agent aging superstar. Making a move like this worked out pretty well when Detroit picked up Sheed.

What's up with Detroit and "past-their-prime" former superstars? The Lions signed Dante Culpepper too.

A.I. makes a better 2 guard than a 1. His best years with with Eric Snow starting at PG.
He will still have flashes of brilliance here and there! But agreed Nobody shot fear in the opponents defense like Eric Snow and AI coming towards them on the fast break.

He's still a guy that's averaging 25 pts per game. And over the past 4 years, he is averaging over 7 assists too.

I hope they haven't said that.. because that is against the rules I think... I think that is what happened to Joe Smith when he was released by Minnesota a couple years ago... that may be a deal breaker?
