I want to attempt to breed several species of clown fish (False Peluca and Australian Black) but I planned on attempting to breed them in tanks without live rock. The tanks flow through a sump with plenty of live rock. I haven't seen anything about people attempting this and every time I see, the breeder has live rock in the tank. Beside what it does for the water, which it still will, is there another need to have it in the tank for breeding? I know they need more hiding places to feel comfortable and that will be done by decorations. Also is the Australian Black easy to breed? I plan on getting mated pairs. Yes they will be placed in separate tanks.
