Does anyone have a picture of a bristle worm? I found about half a dozen of these purple/pink looking mini centipedes zig-zagging their way through my LR. They are about an inch long. Lots of legs to them. And they don't like the light? Any ideas. Thanks.
thats a bristle worm if ever iv heard of one! if u can often see these things then chances are u have loads in your tank, i would suggest buying an arrown crab cos they eat the bleeders!
It's up to you whether or not to keep them... but they are a good addition to the clean up crew. They eat the waste matter that would otherwise decompose in the rock and substrate.
Spike: I've got an arrow crab,.....and come to think of it, the crab does seem to congregate towards that area of LR. What do you mean by "bleeders?"
Bigarn: Are the worms harmless or harmful?
Rubberduck: How much bigger do they get?
Thanks to all.
Certain species have been known to eat corals, I've never heard of any of them eating live fish. I have several of them in my 10 gallon with many corals and have never had a problem. If you want to lower their numbers, cut back on feeding.... the less available nutrients in the water, the less bristleworms you'll have.
IMO... they're keepers.
