They are only a problem if they get so big they start to bother corals. They will not bother fish unless the fish are dead or dieing. They are great clean up crew members and worth keeping.

They can get really big and not bother corals at all .... you just have to keep an eye on them. If they become a problem there are traps sold to catch them.

Dear hobbyist , bristle worms are beneficial scavengers that eat small bits of uneaten food , detritus ,and dead occupants in the aquarium . They live under and within live rock . Mine come out of the live rock ,whenever they smell the scent of fresh fish . If you don't like them , get an arrow crab , or a coral banded shrimp ,or a bristle worm trap . Bristle worm traps are $10 ,and really work as they contain bait that attracts the bristle worms. The bristle worm trap can also expand in order to trap large bristle worms as well .

That does sound like a huge worm.. Make sure that it is a brisstle form and not a big bad eunicid worm. Eucinid worms are pretty bad, they chomped up my star fish population and they move rocks around at night.. Hard to kill also.
