Brittle star question.......Ophira!

I have a 5gal nano at work. I am curious if this would be to small to hold any type of brittle star. I know you have one in a 15gal, and thought that a 5 might be ok for a species only?!? If not I will probably just make it invert only (snails and a shrimp). The tank has around 7 pounds of lr and a one inch sand bed, and I will eventually be adding corals. T4AH.

Is it the only tank you have, and have you kept these small tanks before? You might be able to get a small species in there down the road, but the tank should be very stable. That size tank will fluctuate a lot each day. IMO, it is not the best idea, though it is possible if you are going to pay attention to it every day and watch parameters closely. Otherwise, I wouldn't do it. You will get hitch hiker brittlestars on your LR, but you may not see them much. Still, they are usually pretty tought compared to others. So, the take home is you can probably try something tough- many months down the line- but I wouldn't really recommend it in a tank at work (unless you are there on the weekend too :) ).
