Brittle star

Ok I have a big problem.
I got my brittle star about three weeks ago and he has moved about 6" from were I set him down the first time.
He was eating and was heathly and all the sudden on monday he lost 1 of his legs. I figured no big deal that will grow back. Yesterday I noticed he had lost 2 more legs:eek:
. and today he just lost his last leg.
Water parameters are fine tank has been up for about 7 months(When he lost the first leg I moved him into my 10 gallon that has been up for about 3 years). There are no other things in the tank besides the star(sept for nassariuos snails).
I dont know what is going on??
Help plz
Vince.:nope:

I have 2 BS's, the key i have found to stars is acclimation.
Also the salinity and the stability of the salinity.
Star fish have no blood per say, they use water to to transport "stuff" throughout thier body.
Which is why (and a few other reasons) some CANNOT be taken out of the water for even a second.
I suggest from experience...a slowww 6 hrs drip acclimation, making sure you have good areation in the bucket or what ever your use, as well as a heater.
I have a air distribution setup from my main tank and put in a little square air stone under a 25watt heater in my acclimation bucket.
Out of 8 stars I've only had 1 loss, which was because my sand sifter decided my lttle black tip star was lunch.
As of now I have
2 Green Brittles
1 Red General star
1 Chocholate Chip star
1 Orange Linkia
2 Sand sifters
1 Back Tip (rip)
