brittle star

i had a brittle star for 2 months. it ate well and seemed to be doing fine. last week i noticed its appendages were smaller (by inches) as days went by they kept getting shorter until it was nothing but body. he's dead now. WHAT HAPPENED? my water is fine. the poor guy just disinigrated before my eyes. i want another. HELP!!!

I had a red one do the same thing two weeks ago. But my white one is still alive and doing fine. Good question!!

I've had that happen with fromia species(small orange or red stars) but I've had 3 serpent stars in my tank for 4 yrs now. I'm not sure if maybe they get injured during shipping, some stars are hardier than others, or maybe something picks on them.

we figured out that it was an agressive sally lightfoot that wasnt being fed enough
he now gets a catfish dinner tnx
