Brittle Starfish info

my wife just bought a brittle stare fish without any info on how to take care of them she all ways does this stuff hah. any ways will it eat my fish and shrimp and turbo snails.and also do i have to give it some special kind of food. i heard you have to give it iodine drops is this true thanks guys and grls.

You dont have to give it iodine drops. They should get it naturally from thier food.It should be good as part of a cleanup crew though.

Your wife did good, be sure to tell her so. LOL I bet she hears about it when she messes up.
It is a great cleaner/ scavenger, and I do toss 1 chunk of shrimp in at lights out every other week. I hardly see mine he hides in the rock...just an arm once in a while.

What color is it?
What are your water parameters?
If it is a green brittlestar it is a known predator and a possible problem. Not always but possible.
All brittlestars should be spot fed and not left to scavenge. Otherwise they require a specific gravity of 1.025-1.026 and typical "reef" parameters in the tank.

i didnt no you had to hand feed them thanks for that and i dont think he is green i think he is red here is a pic. and gravity of 1.025

IME, pretty docile. Make sure to spot feed it and all should be good :)

You don't necessarily have to directly feed it everyday...if you feed the tank every day just watch to see that it gets something. Then maybe a couple of times a week you can pay direct attention to it.
