From what I have read, it has to have a piece of the mouth err stomach attached for it to generate a new star. I have never heard of just an arm doing so...been wrong a time or two, however...

Hmm....well, I guess we'll find out. lol I haven't seen the piece anywhere in the tank but that doesn't mean it isn't under a rock. I guess I'll have to do more research on this. Thanks any way
Ok, so I did a little research and you're right. Part of the body does hae to come with the arm to regenerate with a brittle starfish.
