Broken Protein Skimmer?

I noticed the other day that my protein skimmer is no longer producing bubbles to the top collection area. The ******** still looks the same as it always did (lots of tiny bubbles inside, not any bubbles near collection area)
It is a Berlin Venturie Protein Skimmer Red Sea brand. For up to a 250 gallon tank (mine is 46 gallons)
I really don't know what to do Should I do extra water changes while the skimmer is broken?

Have you cleaned the neck of protein skimmer if it full of slime it dosnt work as well. Also not sure on berlin brand but some models depend on the water table they are sitting in or this an external model. Water changes never hurt.
