Broken RO/DI unit

I just got an RO/DI unit, its an old Kent Maxxima. Anyway it looks like the threading where the canister attatches has come off the base. Its hard to explain, the plastic isnt cracked or anything but its like two separate pieces. Could I use JB Water Weld to get it back on there with no leaks? Sorry if this is unclear its just hard to explain.

Maybe I didn't understand. It sounded to me like the canister is fine but the socket where the canister screws in has come out.

Pics are worth a thousand words. Kinda sounds like the threads in the housing are gone to me as well. Not terribly sure how you can glue that back in but I'm pretty sure you could probably just get a new housing from the manufacturer. Dunno if I'd trust the fix.

They are under some pressure and wouldn't attempt to glue. A new canister from BRS would be a direct fit. The issue is if the manufacturer changed canister types during then and now it won't fit. I went through the same deal awhile ago with my original Kent. There is possibly a difference in threads between canister manufacturers.

Yeah the old Kent's had the black threaded caps....I bought new canisters from BRS and the canister itself didn't fit the Kent threaded cap, so had to replace cap and all......

The screws that hold the black plastic male threaded portion onto the metal mounting bracket are prone to rusting. I just replaced them on one. If this is the section your talking about it's a pretty easy fix providing the black plastic threaded portion isnt cracked. Just replace them with stainless steel screws.
