Brooklynella Question?

I believe that maybe my main tank had this disease/parasite. I originally moved my fish to q-tank because of ich problem with my tang. I put into one q-tank a marron and tang, the other tank a lawnmower blenny, and cardinal. My maroon clown died before I could get any medication and now my tang is showing signs, and I have been treating him. Now my cardinal has the same symptoms. If this is brooklynella how long do I need to leave the main tank empty before putting my fish back into the tank?

Also I will add the only medication that I can purchase thats close to formalin is formalite. Formalin is not legal in CA. for some stupid reason. Anyways the LFS said they use this as a dip instead of formalin. Any opinions? This is really frustrating!! I've already lost the maroon, the tang doesn't look so good, and I fear the rest are going down hill.

You do not add formaldehyde [formalin] to your tank...not even a hospital tank. To treat brooklynella you use formalin as "bathes". Basically every other day, 1 hr a day for 3-5 days.
However, you didn't provide any fish symptoms, so it is impossible to advise you if you actually have brooklynella or not.

I should probably have continued this from my previous post "maroon clown dying". What is going on is my maroon clown and tang where in a hospital tank undergoing hypo for ich. Then on sunday I noticed that the clown had white patches of skin coming off him. I was told that this was more than likely brooklynella. I do kow that you are supposed to give the fish a "bath" and not dose the tank. My maroon clown passed away sunday evening. Now my tang has white patches of skin coming off of him as well. He also quit eating last night. My water params are ammonia 0, nitrites 0, ph 8.2, nitrates .13, temp 77, salinity 1.009 I did a partial water change on friday because the nitrates where a little high. I cannot find formalin anywhere. No one can ship to CA and the LFS said that they cannot sell it in CA. They gave me another substance called formalite that they said can be used as a dip.

The main ingredients in the formalite are formaldehyde and malachite green. The instructions on the label don't say anything about using this as a dip, but the LFS told me to that they do it all the time. The fish that have survived seem alot better today. Last night however I lost my tang. I will try to find some nitrofurazone today. Does anyone have any suggestions as far as what medications I should keep on hand? Most of the LFS don't stock alot of medications for saltwater so I am going to order some online so I will have some on hand for future problems. I think that I could have saved all my fish if I would have had the right supplies on hand.

I am familiar [somewhat] with that medication, it is a combination of the formaldehyde and malachite green, but it does not supply the % so there is no way of knowing the amt of ingredient you are getting.
Can you order formalin online? You should get Maracyn2 for Saltwaterfish, formalin and copper as well as a compatible cooper test kit [at least].

I have ordered the copper as well as the test kit that goes along with it. I will also order the the Marycn 2. All the sites that I've found will not ship formalin to CA. I don't really know why. I appreciate all of your help. Maybe next time I'll be better prepared next time.
