Help! I've got a full blown 75g sps/clam tank which is difficult to watch due to new work hrs.
Recently (4-5 days ago)it was seen that a Kole tang had paled and was hiding out all the time, not being his usual self soaring around the tank scraping the glass and rock. Then, inspecting the tank a few days ago being worried about Kole it was seen that a female perc has Brooklynella (EXACTLY what it looks like in the sticky at the top of this board with the clown pics), and the Kole has it too I think? Kole's affliction looks more like stringy fungus, with a few "dots" here and there (not like a full coating of white dots like you'd normally see with ich) and his body has a weird look to it, like the colors are slightly missing or faded in random places.
Been treating with Garlic Xtreme soaked Form 2 for two days feeding small portions 3 times a day now and am going to the store to get fresh garlic to use as Beth described since there have been no noticable effects yet, but Kole isn't looking so swell, he's "lurking" down in the rocks and won't even eat (he never ate prepared foods anyway, always prefering the LR unlike the other fish - 2 percs, 1small Naso that looks completely fine, and 1 dusky jawfish - who love Form 2., nori, and frozen mysis).
Don't know what to do... tearing down the tank to get the fish out isn't really an option sadly enough because of all the corals. But... it could be done if push comes to shove if there's a chance of saving Kole by tossing him (and both clowns maybe too) into a 30g quarantine sacrificing some LR for bio filtration, although since Kole doesn't eat prepared foods, this very well might stress it to death. Also am unwaware of what type of meds to even use against Brooklynella and/or fungus.
Any suggestions? The male perc is starting to look a little like the female now, and the female doesn't look any better from the G. Extreme yet.
Tank has been disease free for 3 yrs with no new introductions of either fish or corals for a yr or so, giving me no indication as to what brought this about.
Not a big fan of chemicals, I'm desperate and happen to have a friend who has the product "Rid Ich". He's never used it, but said I could have it if I wanted. Good idea? Bad idea?
Much thanks to anyone who replies.
