I've had my 44 gallon reef tank set up for many years now and eveything was going fine until I decided to:
1. Replace the sponge in my sump divider
2. Add a polyfilter pad
both at the same time. When I did this my corals shrank up, one fish died, and I've now go brown agea bloom on the portion of the rock closest to the bottom. My top rock is beautiful purples, greens etc...
Did I break the nitogen cycle. My levels os ammonia, nitrate and nitrites are normal. Ammonia maybe a bit high - nothing drastic.
Fish seem a bit stressed than usual.
Not sure what to do.
I've since pulled the poly pad.
