My system does not seem overrun with algae or anything but I sure wish that my powerheads did not get a buildup of icky brown stuff I assume is algae. What is the best way to rid of this? some charcoal in filter? uv steriizer? ro/di machine? what do you think? No other algae issues at all....

I purchase all my water right now at the lfs that is ro/di premixed there. I am looking into my own ro/di machine...can you give me advice on a good unit that is not off the wall pricing. I am not sure what to look for in a good unit. I know it will save us a lot of money, so ready to do it, just have not jumped in yet, we never use tap water.....

Ohiorn, I got a 100gperday RO/DI unit for $125. It is 5 stage and works really well. Hooks up easily to my washer hookup with an adapter. If you would like more info e-mail me and I will give you the site.

wow that sounds great ..here is my email...juliefolley@aol.com I am going to get one. I have a sink in my laundry room I can put a tank in, that sounds terrific. When you mix your salt you let the jugs age right? new at the salt mixing thing...recommended brand of salt?
