brown algae help

i have had brown algaein my tank for about 2 weeks now i just set up my tank about 5 weeks now i have about 15 pounds of live rock a 45 gallion tank wet dry filter proten skimmer and just 3 coral life 50/50 bulbs on for about 12 hours a day how long will this last or could i get rid of it sonner mabe a water chang i have not done one yet was wating for cycle help

I'm still new to this but my experience, (which isn't much) maybe cut down on the hours you have the lights on. this happened to me since i first used tap water. i moved to ro and did a 10% water change. still have the problem but as i top off the tank with ro, i think this problem will go away after the nutrients in tap water will be eliminated.
