brown algae problems

I have a 125gal tank with 3" of sand, which has a coat of brown algae(detitrus). Currently I have a 7" mappa puffer in there. What kind of inverts can I use to get rid of this problem? Would the sand sifting stars work? I also have 6 Mexican snails working.

Frankly I have never seen a Puff that will not eat or at least taste most inverts. The only things I have been able to have that works with the bigger Porks and Dogs are large Tiger Cowrie Snails which have nice rounded shells and cannot be flipped once they attach to something ( and my Puffs have tried to flip them and even when they can the snail pulls back into its narrow slit opening until I can flip it back).
