Brown Algae

Has anyone had brown, fecal looking (politically correct way to say it)
on their tank?
My tank in a starting cycle, have a couple of pieces of raw shimp almost completely decayed in it. Ammonia level is high, but all others are in line
Just curious about this brown algae and any other suggestions would be helpful
I am using Stabilzation too to get the good bacteria to form.
28 pounds of LR in a 24 gallon Nano DX

nothing really will eat it (except possibly urchins but im not sure here someone correct me if im wrong) the only way to really get rid of it is good old fashion elbow grease

Why does Tap Water cause brown algae?? What type of water does everyone use? Distilled, spring or r/o water? What does everyone suggest using? (I used r/o but just curious why the tap causes brown algea)

The guy at the LF said our area, SC
has a lot of phosporous
I dont have any fish or corals in my tank yet
I had bought live rock online and 1 piece at the store covered in Purple algae correlite
That piece is completely brown now, not the others
I have no idea what I am doing
I was going to take all of the water out and put new live sand and premixed water but the guy at the store said no, just let it go.
Brown Algae is normal
I am hoping next week to get my ammonia levels down
We'll see

When cycling the tank. Do this:
When you use tap water..use water conditioner.
Make sure you dont have any fish. I put some
frozen brine shrimp to start cycling as if there was fish.
Also make sure you dont leave the lights on. If you prefer to have the lights on
make sure you dont leave it on for more then 7 hours. (FOR now) That way
you wont get too much algae because when the tank is cycling, there is so much
nutrients that you will get a lot of algae growth. I got my tank to cycle in 1 month
without having brown algae. The only algae I got was green wavey grass looking
algae... Which was good thing. Hope this helps.
P.S. I use regular freaken water...it works just fine for me. I have a 24gal nano cube. Go check out my pics if you can :) https://forums.saltwaterfish.com/t/196499/my-new-24gal-nano-dx
