I went from a 54g tank w/ a 150 MH & - 34w PC to a 120g w/ the outer orbit light, it has 2 150MH HQI & 2 130w PC. I am getting what appears to be a brown "slimeish" algae on my substrate. any suggestions
thanks

what kind of cleaner crew do you have and i mihgt suggest a sand sifter star fish and some hermit crabs
you can also phisicaly take out the algea and through it away
make sure your lights arent staying on to long either algea loves light

that junk grows because of high phosphates, nitrates, or having the lights on too long. if you have your lights on a timer, than knock it back a half hour. also, don't use tap water. oh, i forgot about water flow. place a powerhead close to the bottom and blow it across the tank.

thanks for the input
I have 8 nassarius snails, 2 sand shifting stars (which eat the nassarius), 15-20 hermits.
I am trying to get the water flow correct w/o using powerheads and just the returns from the sump. The new light is much more powerful than the one before, so I will cut the timers back....thanks
