Hello Everyone! I have had my 75 Gal tank for about 2 mos, and I have noticed that I have brown algae again. What can I use -or- do to get rid of this? This is the second time that I have done a partial water change, wiped the algae off of everything and it still keeps on coming back. Someone please help!!!

Really need more info on your tank.....specifically-filtration/lr/ls/fish/clean up crew/ammonia/nitrite/nitrate/phosphates/ph/sg/temp...the more info you provide...the better these folks might be able to help ya......but sounds like diatom.....if your tank just completed its cycle its probably diatoms and its normal...will gradually go away........

The tank includes the following equipment: (1) Seaclone protein skimmer with Maxi-jet 1200 powerhead, (1) Seastorm 8 watt UV sterilizer, (1) Quicksand biological filter with Maxi-jet 400 powerhead, (1) Red Sea Phazer IV Lighting system with (2) VHO and (2) actinic bulbs, (1) 300 Watt Ebo Jager heater,an additional powerhead for water movement. Livestock: (2) Zebra striped damsels, (1) Sebae Anenome, approx. 80 lbs of premium Fiji live rock, approx. 40 lbs of base rock, and crushed coral substrate with some sand. When I bought it, it was already a saltwater setup, so all I had to was basically had water. My temperature is: 78 degrees, PH: 8.0, Nitrates:0 Ammonia: .25. The brown algae looks terrible. My last water change was done 30% on 5/11 due to the death of my florida anenome. Please help!

The tank is still cycling, stop the water changes and wait until the ammonia is zero and nitrites are zero.
The Sand filter needs to be removed as it will become a nitrate factory.
How many inches of substrate do you have and what do you plan to keep in the tank?

I have decided that it will house an eel. My nitrate level is at 0 already. Is there an algae eater other than snails out here on the market? I went out and bought an algae scraper which seems to take the algae off of the glass, but the rocks look terrible. I also noticed that the brown algae is turning green. Is this normal? I also just paid for 3 clams and 5 reefs. Is it to soon to introduce them into the tank? They will not be here until 5/23/01.

Yeah its normal toward the cycle end and is desired. Green algea is the algea you want to have. Getting along good :).
